Firefall Beta Weekend

Sorry, this post is a few weeks old, been I've pretty busy with school. Firefall is a free-to-play 3rd/1st person shooter everyone should definitely try. I've been playing it for a couple days and it's like a mix between Gears of War, Borderlands and Portal - not a bad combo. I first saw this CGI trailer a few years ago:

This team (Red5 Studios) has been working on this since 2006 and they seem like real nerds, genuinely motivated in making a great game for gamers (shocker I know).

Graphics are great for a MMO, and the quest and upgrade systems can be addictive. Even cooler, it has built-in native support for the 360 controller and it works great. You still need the keyboard for a few menu selections but it doesn't take away from the core experience.

For a beta, there's a bunch of cool, personalized options to make your character unique. They give you a few items to start with and the rest can be purchased with in-game money, which can either be gathered by completing quest or purchased with real money. This a free-to-play game, so micro-transactions are their bread and butter, but none of them seem game-breaking.

You also get five battleframes (aka classes) to choose from to fit your play style and two extra character slots to switch your class whenever you want while in a town. Click here to check out the different battleframes and what they offer.

Click here to sign up for a beta account. Or, I highly recommend you become a Founder by purchasing one of their tiers here. The lowest tier is $20 and it allows you to play right now and get a few extra perks. Here's another video to give some more info:

If you decide to try, shoot me a friend request from the in-game menu. My username is Jawahunter.
