My Trip To The Stanley Hotel

Can u see the ghost children?

Notice the different patterns? There are four, one to represent each season. F. O. Stanley's wife, Flora, wanted everyone to feel warm and welcome when they stayed at the Stanley Hotel.

Now can you see them?

For those who have seen the made-for-TV version of The Shining, this is the room where the lady committed suicide in the bathtub. This is said to be one of the most haunted rooms in the Stanley and the very room Stephen King stayed in. We were lucky enough for the room to be available on our trip so we checked in as soon as the ghost tour was over.

This is the tub that inspired Stephen King to use both in the book and the made-for-TV movie.

Here's one of the windows in Rm 217. They definitely like to keep this place authentic.

Here are some more examples of how they like to keep the place looking old fashioned.

Great pic. I like the creepy, overcast in the background. The hotel is very wide so I wasn't able to to get both sides without falling off the ledge I'm standing on.

This is a cool sundial/map they had posted in the front of the hotel.

Here's the balcony of the Rm 217. Unfortunately, they had the door to the balcony sealed so I wasn't able to go out onto it.

Here's a cool trailer for The Stanley Effect, the documentary based on the paranormal activity that takes place there.
