Check out Crytek's new graphics engine built specifically for current and next-gen consoles, the CryEngine 3.
The idea was to make the console look as close to PC graphics as possible while giving the developers great tools to build games on both the 360 and PS3. No more developers complaining that the PS3 is too difficult to work with. The CryEngine 3 will help level the playing field. And the graphics and physics look amazing. I can't wait for a next-gen console version of Crysis. Of course, I will get the 360 version of any CryEngine 3 multi-platform game that is released in the future. :-)
