Unlike Nvidia, AMDs market strategy is to get VR-capable graphic cards to the masses using their new Polaris GPU architecture. Full specs haven't been released yet but based on the chart below, it should outperform the GTX 980 ($400), GTX 970 ($300) and possibly the R9 390 ($300). Awesome price/performance ratio for only $200.
The high-level AMD GPUs (codenamed "Vega") aren't expected to be out until 2017.
